April 24, 2011- To a man I would call a king
Tonight, I dedicate my post to my dear friend, Ryan who tragically passed away today while on a #Twike (Twitter hike) at Olomana Trail. When I first heard about what happened, I was in a state of shock, then later the unstoppable tears came. It was only yesterday that I had seen him at Kissaten, busy at work on his laptop. The generous man gave me an antique camera he had bought for me at Savers. After chatting with him briefly, I let him get back to work. I'm glad I shared one of my last hugs with him yesterday.
I still remember your birthday last year at Satura, when I planned for all the Twitter people to come by and I made you that crown out of construction paper. You said you had the best birthday ever, and that your crown was in your office, and you looked at it every day. I wish I had made you a birthday crown this year.
You were there for my graduation this past year, and I remember how much it meant to me that you came to support me. You were always there for me.
As I write this post with sadness in my eyes, I still remember your generous heart. Your undying support of me becoming a teacher. Your wacky shorts. Your love of social work, and of being an athlete. I will never forget your kindness. There are so many positive things I could say about you, but now I can't share it with you, so I shall share it with the world.
Rest in peace, Ryan Suenaga. Although you doubted it, you are indeed loved by many.
